Evasi0n is a very popular jailbreak software that was designed for iOS 6.0 up to 6.1.2, and evasi0n7 was released for iOS 7.0 to 7.0.6. It has 2 version for both Windows and Mac operating systems, and it is considered to be very east and user friendly; especially to newbies.
Evasi0n is an untethered jailbreak software, meaning that you will only need to use it once to do the jailbreaking process. Afterwards, your device is jailbroken no strings attached, unlike the tethered jailbreak method; that requires cable connection to a pc or laptop everytime your device reboots.
Evasi0n was developed by the evad3rs team, and was updated regularly to keep track of different iOS changes by Apple, the releases and updates were as follows:
Version 1.0 was released for iOS 6.0
Version 1.3 was released to add support for iOS 6.1.1
Version 1.4 was released to add support for iOS 6.1.2
Evasi0n was then updated till it reached version 1.5.3, and these updates were mainly targeting different language translation and some bug fixes in windows version.
Evasi0n7 was released to support iOS 7, and was also constantly updated to keep up with the iOS 7 updates. The releases of evasi0n7 were as follows:
Version 1.0.0 to support iOS 7.0
Version 1.0.3 to support iOS 7.1 beta 3
Version 1.0.5 to support iOS 7.0.5
Version 1.0.6 to support iOS 7.0.6
Some iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were delivered with iOS 7.0.11A466, these devices were not jailbroken by previous versions of evasi0n7, so version 1.0.8 was released to solve this issue.
Installation
Before doing any jailbreaking, it is highly recommended to backup your iPhone; just in case anything goes wrong, your data will not be lost. Also download evasi0n from here: Mac / Windows
Attach your iPhone to the computer.
Run evasi0n, if you are on a Mac with Mountain Lion or Mavericks, you might have to right-click the evais0n icon and choose open, then confirm that you want to open it. If you are on windows, it is better to right-click the evasi0n icon and click “run as administrator”.
Click the “jailbreak” button and wait.
If your phone is locked or have a passcode, you will be asked to unlock the phone twice, do so when prompted.
After that, evasi0n will display a message stating that your device was successfully jailbroken, click the “Exit” button.
Your device might restart to finish the jailbreak process, after that; you will find the Cydia icon on your iPhone.
